Galynker Family Center for Suicide Prevention
HOPE STARTS HERE. TOGETHER, WE CAN PREVENT SUICIDE
At the Galynker Family Center for Suicide Prevention, we focus on providing compassionate, evidence-based care to those in crisis. Guided by the innovative concepts of Suicide Crisis Syndrome (SCS) and Narrative Crisis Model (NCM), we offer a safe space for patients to share their feelings, develop personalized treatment plans, and learn effective coping strategies. Our mission is to help the patient and their family attain a mental and emotional state where suicide is unthinkable.
Founded by Dr. Igor Galynker, a leading psychiatrist and educator, our center is dedicated to transforming the way we understand, predict, and prevent suicide. Through groundbreaking models like the SCS and the NCM, we identify and address the mental states that often precede a suicide attempt, enabling earlier and more effective interventions.
Our approach is unique in that it focuses on objectively staging and treating suicidal mental states, without depending on patients to accurately disclose their suicidal thoughts.

We Prioritize Outpatient Care to Empower Patients and their Families
What We DO
The Galynker Family Center for Suicide Prevention specializes in comprehensive care designed to address the unique challenges of those at risk. Using the Narrative Crisis Model (NCM), we:
- Stage the suicidal process into identifiable phases.
- Provide stage-specific, targeted treatments for early intervention and acute crises.
Our Commitment
We prioritize outpatient care to empower patients and their families, focusing on:
- Open communication about symptoms, medications, and treatment plans.
- Early intervention to prevent or mitigate crises.
- Ongoing psychotherapy provides a space for processing the complex and multifaceted factors that led one to consider suicide, develop adaptive coping strategies, and begin to heal.
- Coordinated care with psychiatry and psychotherapy for both the patient and family. While hospitalization may sometimes be necessary, our goal is to provide the support and resources needed to keep patients safe and supported outside the hospital whenever possible.
