Frequently Asked Questions
How Do I Enroll in Treatment at The Galynker Center?
To schedule an evaluation or an appointment with one of our clinicians at the Galynker Center, please call us at (646) 422-7585 or (646) 850-2290. Alternatively, you can also schedule your appointment by filling out this form.
Who is a "Treatment Partner"?
A “Treatment Partner” can be anyone that knows you well and can accompany you to your evaluation, as well as stay involved in your ongoing treatment. Treatment Partners are usually parents, significant others, siblings, and friends.
Do I Have to Have a Treatment Partner if I am a Client in the Galynker Center?
Yes. Involvement of family and/or other loved ones is something we believe in very strongly, and it is also what makes our Center unique. We believe that the stability and health of our clients’ relationships with the people who are closest to them are an indispensable component of successful treatment outcome.
What Happens Once I Complete My Evaluation?
Once you complete your evaluation and your diagnosis has been confirmed, you and your evaluating clinicians will decide if treatment at the Galynker Center is the best and most appropriate course of action. If it is, your evaluating clinician will design a unique treatment plan that will be tailored to your specific situation.
Do You Accept Insurance?
Please note that we do not accept any insurance. Our fees are competitive for New York City and are insurance reimbursable. If you have “out-of-network-benefits” as part of your insurance plan, some services may be covered in part or in full. Up to date billing and invoices will be provided by the center, however it is the patient’s responsibility to contact and co-ordinate with their insurance provider. Please contact your provider to verify how your plan compensates you for psychiatric services.
What Are Your Fees?
Our fees can vary greatly, depending on the services that are being provided. Please contact us for more information regarding fees and payment options.
How to Cancel / Reschedule Your Appointment?
We ask our patients to please provide our office with a 24–hour notice to change or cancel an appointment. Patients who do not attend a scheduled appointment or do not provide 24–hour notice to change a scheduled appointment will be responsible for a cancellation fee equal to the full rate of the appointment. The cancellation fee is not charged if the appointment can be rescheduled for the same week.
What is the difference between the Family Center for Bipolar Disorder and the Family Center for Suicide Prevention?
Do the same clinicians work in both the Bipolar Center and the Suicide Prevention Center?
Yes, at present the same clinicians work at both Centers using separate treatment frameworks specific to each. Once you complete your intake evaluation, your diagnosis and the need for NCM staging have been established, you and your evaluating clinicians will decide if treatment at the Galynker Center for Suicide Prevention is the best and most appropriate course of action.
Useful Tips for Mental Health Care
Simple Lifestyle Changes to Boost Your Mental Health
1. Practice Gratitude Daily: Start or end your day by writing down three things you’re grateful for. This simple habit helps shift your focus from negative thoughts to positive ones, improving your overall mindset.
2. Move Your Body: Incorporate a short walk, light stretching, or even a 10-minute workout into your day. Physical activity releases endorphins, which are natural mood boosters and stress relievers.
3. Set Digital Boundaries: Reduce screen time, especially before bed. Try a “tech-free hour” each evening to read, journal, or meditate. This helps lower stress and improve sleep quality.
4. Simplify Your Space: Spend a few minutes decluttering your environment. A cleaner, more organized space can help reduce feelings of overwhelm and create a sense of calm.
5. Take Mini Breaks: Incorporate short breaks throughout your day to breathe deeply, step outside, or sip a cup of tea. These moments of mindfulness can help you reset and reduce anxiety.
Small changes, practiced consistently, can make a big difference over time!
